In my 6509's using a sup2/msfc2, I store the ios image in the sup2
sup-bootflash and on a slot0: card. You should be formatting the
sup-bootflash
and copying the image into the sup-bootflash:. If you put the image on a
slot0:
card you can the image from slot0: to sup-bootflash: and set the boot config
to boot off of either or both...
