Is this a case where you escape from one router back to the terminal server? If so, the line is still active - if you do a 'show session' you will see which hosts are active. If you escape back to the terminal server and want to return to an active session, just type the number of the session from the above output, or just hit enter on a blank line to get back to the last active session.
