Possible addition - under section 2 - Filtering
Does it make sense to include the Passive Interface option as a way to
filter?
If not under that section, then how would one define/lable this option?

1) redistributing classful protocols into classless protocols and visa
versa
a) getting smaller subnets to match a longer boundary
( subnets with longer prefixes )
b) dealing with larger subnets than the classless boundary permits

2) filtering can be accomplished by:
a) distribute-lists
b) route-maps
c) limiting advertisements to certain interfaces
d) limiting advertisements to certain neighbors
3) distribute-lists can reference:

b) particular neighbors ( gateways )
c) ip prefix-lists
4) route-maps can:
a) reference access-lists
b) reference interfaces
c) reference ip prefix-lists
d) reference metric values ( intriguing - have to look into this )
e) route tags
5) additionally, different protocols have their bells
a) ospf - summary-address ( to summarize the routes redistributed
into ospf )
b) others - match ospf metrics, route types e.g. E1, E2
c) others - match IS-IS route level types e.g. level-1, level-2
6) media dependent issues
a) split horizon ( NMBA )
7) redistribution loops
a) when redistribution occurs at two or more different points in a
multihomed network
just some idle thoughts
