The bootstrap is loaded in the bootROM (read-only) unless you have a 2691 which is a non-FRU. If you go to the link below, it will guide you on the replacement procedure. I ordered the chips over the phone through the cust svc line (800)553-6387, option 2 then 6. I don't know what the going rate is, I just upgraded my 2500's and they were FREE (plus shipping).
