CL: I think you are letting your fear of the unknown get the better of you. take a couple of deep breaths, and think about the kinds of things they are likely to test, given two 3550's, each capable of L2 and L3 functionality. CL: as opposed to the kinds of things they can test with a single Cat5 and a single Cat 3920. CL: obviously, I can't tell you what I did or did not see in the Lab, but I can tell you that if you think about it for a few minutes, you can get a pretty good idea of the kinds of things that are likely to show up in your test, given the equipment. >has anyone > come out with a config. guide book CL: The documentation on CCO is very good, IMHO. http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/c3550/12111ea1/3550scg/i ndex.htm CL: if you are planning on visiting the CCIE Lab, you really do need to know how to find this stuff on the Doc CD. The CCO documentation site is more than sufficient to practice with, if you do not have a doc CD at home. >or a cd-simulator, similiarly to the > Cat5 from Cisco? CL: I'm sure someone is working on it. But I would recommend renting some rack time if you don't want to buy the switch. You can't be sure that a simulator will generate the error messages nor provide you with the feedback required. >Also, on CCO, I see this one link for the 3550: > http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps646/products_configuration _guide_book09186a008007f368.html Is > this sufficient for the Lab? Please advise.Thank you.Sincerely,CN CL: this is for version 12.1.8 of the 3550 IOS. It is certainly a good place to start. It does not contain all the features in 12.1.9 or 12.1.11 CL: you know, I forgot to look at the IOS version on the switches in the Lab. Rats. CL: you might want to check out my white paper on certification zone ( available to subscribers ) If I do say so myself, I did a pretty decent job of distilling the 1500 pages of documentation into a managable number of high points. ( disclaimer - I was paid to write the white paper, so I have a vested interest ) > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > MSN 8 with e-mail virus protection service: 2 months FREE* Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7&i=58720&t=58718 -------------------------------------------------- FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
