Here is a part of an email I got from Cisco.

"Individuals can still earn the Cisco Security Specialist 1
certification until February 28, 2003. After that date, this focused
certification will no longer be offered. For those who have already
earned the Cisco Security Specialist 1 certification, the certification
remains valid until two years from date of achievement. Like all other
focused Cisco certifications, all three new Cisco Security Specialist
certifications are valid for two years.
Reminder: To apply your Cisco Career Certification or Cisco Qualified
Specialist toward any Cisco Partner Specializations, you must read and
accept the terms of the Cisco Career Certifications Agreement. Failure
to complete this step will prohibit processing of any certification or
specialization applications. For details on the new Cisco security
certifications, visit http://www.cisco.com/go/training.";

Subject: CCSP - IDS exam [7:58791]

Hi all,

I have been looking through the cert requirements and I see that there
is a
choice of 2 exams for IDS. The old one is 9E0-572 and the new one is
9E0-100.

Question is:
Is the old one marked for retirement and if so when. It looks as though
I
can only write this in the new year as the exam centre is closing
shortly
for Xmas.

Thanks

Andrew
