* Remove category information. (Is there any solid operational reason to
copy it over at all, given that we will be scrapping most of the category
information? This is a pressing question because )
Categories are used for a number of administrative purposes. For instance, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Articles_lacking_sources . Not copying the category information will likely cause significant problems unless a new system to keep track of this type of information is developed.
One thing to point out is that it would probably be trivial to keep the category tags in place but modify mediawiki to not display them. I think this would be by far the better choice if you don't want to keep the category system as-is.
* Remove sex position articles, and arguably obscene topics. :-)
Arguably obscene according to whom? I suppose I've played my hand as to how I feel on this matter with this semi-rhetorical question, but even if this is a command from high and decision which is already made, it's still a legitimate question. Removing anything which some portion of the world finds obscene would be extremely limiting. So whose opinion are we going to use? Maybe we can find an expert in social norms regarding obscenity? A board of censors may get bad publicity, but it's probably better than just letting the mob dictate what's in and out.
* Redesign front page.
* Work on articles from a canonical list of important/general articles; see
for example the list that is now living on the planning wiki.
What else?
Wow, I suspect there's going to be a whole lot, and that the only way to get it all is going to involve several iterations of cleaning. But here's a list of some ideas: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Self-reference#Examples+of+self-references
The WP: pseudo-namspace has to be removed, a whole lot of templates are going to need to be removed, a fair number of substituted templates are going to need to be removed... This last one is going to be especially tough to implement.
What to do re images?
Copy them over? Is it being considered to *not* copy the images?
How to keep track of CZ-changed articles?
Categories? :)
