Instead of an authoritarian name like caesar or czar why not have a name that (I thought, hope) reflects the nature of Citizendium. What about calling its users citizens? Or perhaps I missed something. Susan

It was pointed out to me earlier this week that the Russian word tsar
(czar) comes from caesar. ("You mean you didn't know that before?" "Yes,
and more's the pity." :) Anyway I don't like the imperial connotations
of "CZer." A member of the Wikipedia community may be a Wikipedian, but
a CZ-er is merely a "citizen."
I would also like to point out that just because we have to fork
Wikipedia *content* doesn't mean we have to for the underlying software,
Mediawiki. I actually use Mediawiki for my job in RL. I have been
tempted to make customizations, but the way to go about that is to join
the Mediawiki project and try to get customizations pushed upstream.
That's how open source projects are done. And on *that* fine point I can
present credentials as an expert. ;)
Do we really have to fork Mediawiki?
If so, I propose the names czediawiki, pronounced with a silent 'c', or
(more simply) zediawiki.
But please -- let's not take lightly the decision to fork Mediawiki. I'm
already on record being willing to fork the content licenses. Let's not
change anything we don't have to change.
