Larry et. al.,

It certainly sounds tempting.

The trouble is, that the provider of funding giveth, and the provider
taketh away too. It would be that much harder to convince outside
entites of our objectivity in all matters. Not only that, but were we
to maintain a database of consumer goods, making such a database
either comprehensive or well-researched yet neutral or both -- would
require a full-time research staff and enormous expenses. Consumer's
Reports has a formula for that, and the staff, and the resources. If
they or someone else wanted to put up a Consumer Goods wiki I think
that would be commendable -- but if Citizendium becomes that also, it
risks becoming that mainly.

Last of all, if what I was writing for became a consumer database, I
wouldn't want to write for it. It's a perfectly fine thing, but I
have no interest in contributing my volunteer labor to such an
undertaking, and I suspect others feel similarly.

cheers,
