o~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~o All & Sundry,
Aside from the fact that "BCE" wastes a byte and creates an inelegant asymmetry betwen the two codes, people need to recognize that CE is often used as a code for "Christian Era" in the communities that prefer that reading. The fact is that AD and BC are currently no more than arbitrary symbols, like Pu for Plutonium, the semeiotics of whose hermeneutics has no semantic link to (1) Roman religion (2) the planet, er, whatever it is this week, Pluto, (3) Disney dogma, (4) Hermes, the Greek god of Hermeneutral Points Of View, (5) ... So I would recommend being non-original here as elsewhere.
