All & Sundry,

Aside from the fact that "BCE" wastes a byte and creates an inelegant
asymmetry betwen the two codes, people need to recognize that CE is
often used as a code for "Christian Era" in the communities that
prefer that reading.  The fact is that AD and BC are currently
no more than arbitrary symbols, like Pu for Plutonium, the
semeiotics of whose hermeneutics has no semantic link to
(1) Roman religion (2) the planet, er, whatever it is
this week, Pluto, (3) Disney dogma, (4) Hermes, the
Greek god of Hermeneutral Points Of View, (5) ...

So I would recommend being non-original here as elsewhere.
