All,

Well, the press release is out and we've been Slashdotted (and we've got 23
new authors overnight since then). Yippee!

But the strange thing is that the wiki itself is relatively quiet. I have a
hypothesis as to why this is. I've noticed in the past that, sometimes,
when I weigh in with dramatic predictions and praise, it makes people
uncomfortable and nervous. Like, in the progress report
(http://www.citizendium.org/oneyearandthriving.html), I say, "we've produced
many long, meaty articles--in just one year," and we've "proven" this and
that. Well, this is all true. But maybe when I say such things, a thought
is going through your head: "Is Sanger talking about the same project I'm
working on? I haven't written many long and meaty articles. Here he's
talking about making 100,000 articles in four years, and other such stuff.
I couldn't do that. I just wrote a few middling articles. All I want to do
write a few middling articles. I can't take the pressure! Augh!!!"

Well, gee, I don't mean to put *pressure* on anybody. :-) I'm wildly in
favor of your middling work because it all adds up. (And for the record, my
own direct work on articles I've started has been scant at best. I'm a
pretty middling CZ author myself.) Together, we *can* create something far
greater and more important than what any one of us could create. That's
exactly how it goes, you know. It's amazing that it works, but it does.

But you don't have to think about that, if you don't want to. Just think
about your own articles...the rest will take care of itself, as if by magic!
