All, After my most recent "call to action" for Workgroup Weeks, there are seven people who have expressed interest in participating, here:
http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Workgroup_Weeks#E-Z_sign-up That's OK, but I was hoping for more. Can we get some more people interested? You, perhaps? If you can help beat the drum a little for our worthy project, just go to the link above and sign your name. This is the single most effective thing we can do to make CZ grow, I think. Now, if you're skeptical in any way about this, or not terribly interested in participating, I'd like to ask why not. Again, if you're skeptical, could you e-mail me personally some answers to these questions? * What's your biggest reservation about Workgroup Weeks? * Is Citizendium as a whole project "ready" to be unleashed on academia? If you are a scholar, would you feel in some way uncomfortable having to defend the project? * If you're not motivated to help organize Workgroup Weeks, is it because, basically, you'd rather be adding content than getting other people involved? (That's hard to argue with, of course.) * In all honesty, is any part of your skepticism or qualms rooted in a desire to keep the project small and friendly? Do you fear its expansion to Wikipedian proportions? You *don't* have any obligation to do *anything* for CZ--this is a fully volunteer project. So I am not trying to browbeat you, because I know that is never an effective way to motivate volunteers. I am merely trying to understand why there aren't more people who are as excited about Workgroup Weeks as I am! Maybe it's just that you haven't thought about it or looked into it. If that's the case, let me call in any favors :-) and ask you please to look at the descriptive page (http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Workgroup_Weeks), and maybe a "we can do this" page (http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Workgroup_Weeks/We_can_do_this). I personally want to be spending most of my CZ time in the next several months on this initiative. It's that important, I feel. --Larry _______________________________________________ Citizendium-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.purdue.edu/mailman/listinfo/citizendium-l
