*Plans, develops, tests, and documents computer programs, applying knowledge
of programming techniques and computer systems. Formulates plan outlining
steps required to develop program, using methodologies such as structured
analysis and design or object-oriented development. Captures requirements
using industry standard development frameworks and tools. Designs reports,
charts, graphs, forms and on-line computer displays to accomplish goals of
user request. Reviews screens, reports, forms and chart designs with users.
Creates computer programs that load data from flat files into SQL server
databases. Summarizes data as necessary. Tests and validates consistency of
data. Creates Web-based reports and graphs under tight timelines. Builds
tables and other database structures necessary to support data and efficient
reporting. Works closely with DPI Program areas to understand needs and
evaluates user requests. Recommends solutions to problems or for system
improvements. Writes documentation to describe program development, logic,
coding, and corrections. Writes manual for users to describe installation
and operating procedures. Assists users to solve operating problems.
Programmer-Analyst capabilities with 8 or more years of experience required.
This technical skill set will be applied to the reporting of educational
data on-line. Candidates without IBATIS and Struts experience will not be
considered. *
