The position requires considerable administrative and technical coordination in a highly complex technical and organizational environment, and results in systems designed to meet the business information and analytical needs. Under direction of the Data Services Manager and other members of the team, the incumbent is responsible for the team’s Cognos deliverables and the work associated in designing, building, testing, maintaining and improving the multiple Cognos cubes and reports. The incumbent is also responsible for the ongoing operational stability of the environment ensuring all components are properly monitored and audited to provide data integrity, accuracy and timeliness of delivery. A basic understanding of ETL development is also required. *Job Duties* Manage and maintain the *Cognos* Version 10.2 environment as the *Cognos * expert. Create, enhance, and maintain Framework Manager models (relational and DMR) which connect to a star schema DB2 warehouse database, including packages designed for report development and for ad hoc Business Insight Advanced users, according to best practices. Collaborate with business users and members of the Data Services Team, including business analysts, data warehouse developers, and managers, to design and develop *Cognos* reports using Report Studio and/or Analysis Studio. Design and develop complicated reports including sub-reports, graphical reports, and well-formatted reports according to user requirements. Develop dashboards using Business Insight. Exhibit a commitment to data quality by validating results compared with the data warehouse database at each step of the development process. Administer the *Cognos* development, quality assurance, and production environments, including managing *Cognos* securities using Active Directory, the *Cognos* Connection folder structure, deployment of content from development to production, and report scheduling and bursting. Train and support *Cognos* end users on basic navigation in *Cognos* Connection, Business Insight Advanced, and report/package usage based on business requirements. *Job Requirements:* Bachelors Degree in Information Systems or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work on cross-functional teams and foster the team's commitment to tasks. Hands-on advanced experience with all *Cognos *BI studios, including Framework Manager, Report Studio and/or Analysis Studio. Business Insight Advanced, and Administration. Ability to independently develop Framework Manager Models and advanced Report Studio and/or Analysis Studio reports is required. Ability to collaborate on a team with infrastructure, data warehouse, and business analyst resources, and clearly communicate solutions to both technical and non-technical team members. Ability to troubleshoot query issues during report development using a methodical approach, including comparing the tabular data from *Cognos *queries Oracle and DB2 database queries on the data warehouse database based on the report specification. Strong understanding of BI and Data Warehouse database concepts, including star schema, with the ability to develop Report Studio queries which accurately use the relationships between fact tables in the data warehouse database.
