*Please send resume to s...@cncconsulting.com * Job Title: Cognos Administrator Location: Ann Arbor, MI Duration: 5+ months Leads the administration of the different operational & DW Cognos environments. Tasks involve but not limited to maintenance, upgrade, support & content maintenance on various server. The Senior Cognos Administrator will define and architect the best practices of a Cognos infrastructure, design, develop support plans and provide support for Cognos applications. Provide guidance in the development of infrastructure requirements with business, architecture group, and solution teams. Ensure the seamless integration and synchronization of Cognos applications, security, and infrastructure technologies. Responsible for 24x7 support. Responsibilities: Responsible for Cognos Administration on a variety of servers/operating systems. Perform operational support including security management, scheduling, error recovery, patching, upgrading, monitoring, change and incident management. Responsible for setting up Middleware instances for Cognos Portals Work closely with Solution Architects, Developers, Business Analysts and Project Managers. Monitoring, maintaining and performance tuning Cognos Servers/Applications Building and maintaining single server and multi Server Cognos Environments in both standalone and virtual environments on UNIX and Linux Platforms Implementing and maintaining backup process using applicable software, performing restore activities, working with backup team and implementing and maintaining appropriate middleware system retentions Documenting all of the technical phases of the system including installation/configuration, environment variables, scheduled jobs, important file systems, maintenance history and upgrades Performing root cause analysis and resolution for all Cognos Application issues and supporting associated application issues as necessary. Collaboratively work with different solution delivery teams within the organization in implementing various BI projects Provide the conduit between the business requirements and the technical resources to ensure technical design, development and testing meet the needs of the business Experience and Education: Bachelor degree in computer science or equivalent experience 5-7 years of experience in Cognos Administration & possess solid understanding of Cognos Architecture. Experience in installation/upgrade/configuration/tuning of Cognos Suite of Products 7/10 Experience setting up environment in single & multitier environments Possess solid experience integrating various authentication sources to Cognos Environment Must have experience setting up Middleware instances for Cognos Web Portals Experience setting up Cognos Content Experience migrating content from one environment to another. Experience integrating Version Controlling tools to Cognos Environment. Experience in Cognos TM1 Administration a plus Should have adequate knowledge related to Framework Manager, Transformer, TM1, Access Manager & studio tools (Business Insight Advanced, Report Studio..etc) Troubleshooting experience pertaining to Cognos configuration, security, and application issues. Willingness to work beyond core business hours, if necessary to minimize business interruption during planned or unplanned system modifications. Possess strong analytical and troubleshooting skills Ability to conceptualize, launch and deliver projects on time and within budget, following SDLC standards.
