This position will support the day-to-day operation of QAP and this system is used by personnel from the Department, as well as producers and suppliers of aggregate or asphalt materials. QAP provides a mechanism for these material producers and suppliers to enter quality control (QC) test results into a central monitoring system. DOT’s quality assurance (QA) test results are entered by internal inspectors using the same system. QC and QA test results are linked to one another as well as to detailed project data stored in DOT’s well-established Highway Construction and Materials System (HiCAMS). QAP provides role-based access to tabular and statistical reports that compare QC and QA data. User aNCDOT is seeking to hire on contract a Mid to Senior Level C#.Net Developer as part of the NC DOT Web Services Team to independently support and maintain the QAP web-based system. This position is for a .NET Developer with strong C# skills that has the experience and desire to work with clients to build business solutions and develop projects through their entire life cycle. This role reports to the Web Applications Supervisor and collaborates with other Web Services developers.The candidate will be involved with NCDOT''''''''s Quality Assurance Program (QAP) a web based Quality Control/Quality Assurance application developed by the Department to provide web-enabled data entry of highway construction material test results. User authentication is accomplished using the State’s NCID system *Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:* Technical Skills: Proven experience in the following: ASP.NET(C#), .NET 4.0 or greater is preferred Experience developing web applications using MVC3 or greater. Strong understanding of SQL and relational database technologies such as MS SQL Server, including database design, T-SQL, and stored procedures, etc Proficiency using Visual Studio 2012/2013 and a Source Control Solution like Team Foundation Server and/or git Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting Windows/IIS platform experience is required Strong exposure to object oriented design and development is required Experience with any of the following is a plus: o Experience using .NET technologies, such as: WCF, Entity Framework and LINQ o Community based .NET frameworks like nLog, log4net, nunit, etc o Experience in the development and support of SharePoint solutions, web parts, web services, and work flows o BizTalk and/or InRule Communication Skills: • Self-motivated and self-driven is a must with the ability to work with limited supervision • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal • Able to lead and motivate others to accomplish a common goal • Experience working directly with clients is a plus Responsibilities: Consult with clients and help produce and define business requirement for new applications Create milestones and project time line estimates Design, code and test new Windows and web software applications. Must be able to develop an application from conception through the entire Development Life cycle.
