*Job Title: SQL Developer of Web-based, Transactional Applications* *Location: Des Moines, IA* *Duration: 12+ Months* *Need Face to Face* *POSITION DESCRIPTION* The Department is currently implementing a new Eligibility system for Medicaid, TANF (Financial Assistance) and Food Assistance programs. This implementation leaves several Department systems used in support of the new eligibility system in need of upgrading to meet the federal Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) guidance. Many of the remaining systems are mainframe systems that are being moved into the Client/Server domain. The Client/Server environment is predominately Web-based (IIS and the .NET Framework) and SQL Server. The SQL Server environment is being upgraded to SQL Server 2012. We are in need of an experienced SQL Developer. The experience should be centered around the design, development, and implementation of databases used to support web-based, transactional applications. Ideally, the candidate will have experience supporting real-time, SOA-based applications using Web services and a services bus (Oracle Service Bus) to interact with other systems. Additional experience using the LINK, an alternative to conventional 3-tier architecture, would be beneficial. The activities with which this person will be involved include database design (normalized/de normalized) using core database objects and application-specific and function-specific schemas. *REGULAR ACTIVITIES* •Working with Web (.NET) Developers interacting with the database in the design and development of the application •Database schema/table/column design and development •Creating database objects used within the application •Developing/editing and implementing stored procedures and other executables •Developing database maintenance plans •Developing for the automation of database batches where necessary, by creating SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages and implementing batch schedulers in BMC Software’s Control M workload automation software *Duties:* •What we ARE looking for is someone that has a background in design and development for a database used by a transactional application (i.e., One used by business every day in support of their business) •They will need to have some SSIS experience, but the main skill needed is to build and support web services and database select, update and insert transactions (emphasis added) •They need to evaluate the data and data access layers along with the logical and physical database objects and structures •They will review the existing stored procedures and rewrite to interface with web services calls, some straight selects while others may incorporate business logic and rules •We want that experience with the Web-based transactional systems •The candidate will have worked in medium to large transactional systems, performing the database design and development, and may have worked on payment processing application or a case management type systems *Thanks and Regards* James | Talent Acquisition - Manager | V.L.S Systems Inc.
