* POSITION SUMMARY*
The Software Developer III designs and constructs technical solutions of
well-defined, routine business problems for small or medium sized projects.
The Software Developer III works in conjunction with the Platform
Development team in providing timely, accurate, and high-quality code
design and construction, unit testing, and documentation.
The Software Developer III is involved in resolving mission critical
issues, and will provide assistance and guidance to other Software
Developers.
The Platform Development group is in charge of operating the platforms that
the production teams use to build products (mostly Web applications) for
clients. There are 3 platforms:
*Event/Travel Management* - travel reservations for large groups...like 3k-
15k attendees
*Incentive* - point programs that use a Web template that is customized to
meet client needs
*Catalog *- presents 10k items in customized format for clients,
markets and conducts Product for Points Earned transactions, and interfaces
with third-party vendors for order placement, shipping instructions, etc.
The Software Developer III would be trained to work on any and all
platforms, but typically will focus on just one.
The Hiring Manager is interested in a developer who has worked on large
systems, rather than only on small projects.
The developer needs to have a *strong background in Service Oriented
Architecture (SOA), the Entity Framework, Test-Driven Development (TDD),
and Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture*.
The Software Developer III must understand how to develop software that
will have a long service life, offer flexibility, and be customizable for
client requirements.
In other words, the developer must think in terms of adaptable platform
architecture and functionality.
The Software Developer III should have 5+ years of C# and .NET experience.
*HIRING REQUIREMENTS*
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related major, or an
Associate’s degree with comparable work experience
- 4 to 8 years of demonstrated knowledge of client-server and/or
web-based applications
- 4 to 8 years demonstrated knowledge of *relational database* concepts
- 4 to 8 years of experience supporting production systems in a
production environment; familiar with *Service Oriented Architecture
(SOA)* concepts
- Ready to work in a *collaborative / Agile development environment*
- Excellent level of understanding of *Object Oriented Programming (OOP)*
- Experience with the evaluation of technology products, tools, and
services for the purpose of improving existing processes and projects
- 4 to 8 years of experience working with, and the ability to
efficiently use, the following development applications:
- *Microsoft Visual Studio 2012* – Integrated Development Environment
(IDE)
- *Microsoft SQL Server 2008* or newer – Relational Database
Management System (RDMS)
- *Git *(Version Control)
- *Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome* – Web
Browsers
- 4 to 8 years of experience working with, and ability to efficiently
write, the following programming scripts/languages:
- VB.NET
- ORM Tools such as *Entity Framework*
- C# 4.0
- ASP.NET
- T-SQL
- *JavaScript* Libraries such *as JQuery*
- HTML
- Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
- Automated test frameworks -- *Test-Driven Design & Development
(TDD)*
- *MVC* design pattern
- *Dependency injections, or Inversion of Control (IoC)* – Experience
is preferred
- *Continuous Integration (CI) and Integration Testing*
- Use of *SpecFlow* - preferred
- Use of *NuGet* package manager with Microsoft Visual Studio -
preferred
- Use of *ReSharper* with Microsoft Visual Studio - preferred
- User Interface (UI) creation - preferred
- Ability to think analytically to solve technical problems
individually and in a team environment
- Ability to work on several medium-sized projects with minimal
supervision
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately on multiple projects when
subjected to frequent interruptions
- Excellent writing, grammatical and proofreading skills (in English)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (in English)
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to listen, understand and respond to external and internal
customers’ needs in a timely manner; customer service experience in a
service-related industry preferred
- Ability to work the time necessary to complete projects and/or meet
deadlines
