*Position: **Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)*

*Location: Seattle, WA*

*Duration:6+*


The Ideal Candidate

*Degree required (if so, any university preference, type of degree):*
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work
experience



*Skills Needed:*

·         7+ years’ experience with the following (individual will become
one of the core SDET’s in the team):

·         Behavior Driven Development (BDD) or Test Driven Development
(TDD) Software Development Experience

·         Object-oriented design and coding skills, ideally in C# or Java

·         Experience with databases, SQL and distributed systems

·         Experience with the full software development lifecycle in an
agile environment (they use 2 week sprints)

o    Software testing experience including design, implementation,
documentation, and maintenance of test automation

·         Experience with web services, ASP.NET, HTML and JavaScript

·         Experience with source code management and code reviews in TFS or
Git

·         Experience with test tools/frameworks: i.e. Microsoft Test
Manager, Test Controllers, Lab Agents, TFS, JUnit, NUnit, Selenium,
SpecFlow

·         Experience with Continuous Delivery/Continuous Integration a
strong plus



*Soft skills/Personality:*

·         Excellent problem solving and debugging skills

·         Strong passion for quality gates, patterns and practices

·         Knowledge of scripting languages

·         Proactive, Team oriented, Team philosophy, customer focus, how
can I help each other vs. me, me, me.

·         Manage projects and people, drive to resolution, and determine
what is needed to complete the job.

·         Give estimates on time, determine length of time to finish testing

·         Able to work within a team and independently

·         Ability to find bugs on their own and come up with resolution to
bug

·         Attitude of continual learning

·         Adaptable to new testing methodologies and techniques

·         Adaptable to change as Nordstrom tends to be a bit ambiguous as
they are moving from a Waterfall Development Environment to an Agile
Development Environment

·         Ability to work well in a highly collaborative team environment





*Day in the life/what the resource will actually be doing: *

·               Implement software solutions.

·               Troubleshoot defects and propose remedies.

·               Contribute to story sizing and work estimates for
implementation, validation, delivery and documentation.

·               Work with internal customers and business partners to
understand feature work and explain implementation options.

·               Implement test automation to validate new and existing code.

·               Develop and extend methodologies for validation of scalable
production systems.

·               Work collaboratively with a diverse team of peers to
deliver feature development

o    Attend and contribute to daily stand up meetings

o    Review user stories to ensure a quality user experience, well-defined
acceptance criteria and thorough test coverage.

o    Plan and implement unit tests based on user stories, architecture and
design.

o    Participate in design and code review to ensure quality and
testability of feature code

o    Advocate for quality and design to minimize risk in feature deployment

o    Contribute to continuous improvement of code quality and delivery
practices.

o    Mentor other engineers to grow to similar levels of technical
expertise.
