Job Title: Software Quality Engineer Duration: 4 months Contract Location: Boston, MA Rate: 35 Job Description: The Software Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for writing and executing manual and automated test cases, identifying defects, and resolving technical issues to ensure that developed products meet the design specifications and are within Technology Group standards. Identifies test scenarios and writes test cases based on user story acceptance criteria. Investigates and reports defects and related quality concerns effectively to team members, including: other SQEs, QA Manager, developers, project managers, product owners, and business analysts. Understands and implements, at an individual level, software quality engineering best practices. Analyzes and ensures requirements/User Story acceptance criteria are acceptable for test case creation. Executes manual and automated test cases, as well as performs back end data validation. Tracks test progress and results in test management tools like JIRA and Quality Center. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Identify, recommend and implement mitigation strategies to keep project work on track Ensure user story, task, and defect statuses in JIRA and Quality Center are up to date Validate defects and assist in triage of defects Intermediate experience or knowledge required in: HTML; XML; Java; JavaScript; SQL/TSQL(Includes DML/DDL/function commands), stored procedures, DB Tracing, DB profiling/SQL Profiler, impact analysis, DB sharding; AJAX, JSON, XPath Understanding of Coding Fundamentals (variable declaration, program flow, functions, error handling, etc) Understanding of Web Services (SOAP, REST) Familiarity with automated testing tools (Selenium Web Driver) and ability to script automated test cases. Experience using estimation practices related to task durations to meet schedules in an Agile software development environment Strong PC skills including thorough knowledge of MS Project, MS Word, MS Excel, Visio EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in Computer related field preferred with two (2) to five (5) years of experience and/or equivalent work experience; or equivalent education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
