A big part of team’s work includes development of scripts/utilities automating common database management, administration and monitoring tasks. The MS SQL Server Engineer is a mid-level SQL Server DBA, who will act as a subject matter expert for all platform related issues. The candidate will be responsible for setting standards and policies and for defining development strategy for the SQL Server platform. Knowledge of internal workings of the SQL Server, good programming skills (T-SQL, PowerShell, .Net) and good communication skills are essential. The environment is fast-paced and requires ability to learn fast, and to stay ahead of curve. The individual must be able to work independently and with other team members. This is a fast paced environment where interaction with many creative individuals stimulates professional growth. *Job Responsibilities* · Test, assess and certify new MSSQL Server versions and service packs. Evaluate software packages from other vendors offering monitoring/administration/design, etc… solutions for SQL Server. · Work on improvement of Standard Operating Environment solution, incorporating new technologies and features available in new versions of SQL Server. · Develop/maintain DBMS scripts, utilities, procedures automating and standardizing management, administration and performance monitoring tasks. · Interact with Database Operations team and other Global Technology teams on identifying opportunities for improvement and providing innovative engineering solutions. · Lead efforts on Proof of Concept for different internal projects and external vendor solutions. · Work with application teams if needed, assisting in migrations/upgrades and providing expert advice on all SQL Server related issues from design, data modeling to development. · Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting production problems. *Required Job Qualifications:* · 5 - 10 years of experience with SQL Server, proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2012/2014 and all its products and features, such as Analysis Services, SSIS, Reporting Services, Replication, AlwaysOn and SQL Server Clustering. · High level development skills and experience with T-SQL, SSIS, PowerShell scripting. · Deep knowledge of Windows OS, Performance monitoring components.
