Hello! First of all, I'm not a programmer, I'm just a packager with an interest in CJK typesetting. So I can't answer all the questions; I just know how to configure things, not how it's actually built.
So the commands used in my debian/rules file are merely based on trial and error. It could be that something's even missing, but that I didn't notice it. From: zhaohs <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > I have some questions in using your *rules* file to generate the Virtual > fonts. > 1. What's the difference between the subfonts $(uninamestem)v > $(uninamestem)vr? $(uninamestem)vr is the reference font for $(uninamestem)v. The latter is handled like a real font plane. If you read the scripts carefully, you will read in vertref.pe that the $(uninamestem)vr.afm file is used to create the appropriate .fdx file. >From vertref.pe: # Generate a font with glyphs which have vertical glyph representations (but # don't include the vertical glyph representations itself). This is used by # the perl script `makefdx.pl' to create an FDX file as used by the CJK # package for LaTeX. > 2. You generate the virtual font `$(sfdnamestem)v' which is a clone of > `$(uninamestem)v', then, why not generate the virtual font > `$(sfdnamestem)vr' which is a clone of `$(uninamestem)vr'? I think because $(uninamestem)vr doesn't have any function at all, except to be used for makefdx.pl. I could be wrong though. > 3. When you Create the Type1 font map, you use the conditional statement > as follows: > if [ $$filename != "$(uninamestem)vr.pfb" ] > Why must this be used? I think it gave some errors or a warning, I don't remember. Remove that line, install it, use vertical CJK and see what it gives. :D I see you have about the same kind of questions I had a year ago. Please read http://lists.ffii.org/pipermail/cjk/2005-September/thread.html (and all the following months; see http://lists.ffii.org/pipermail/cjk/). I hope it will help you some insight.
