Dear Werner,
I find I can through the following way to cheat DVIPDFMX into using
OpenType fonts, say, AdobeSongStd-Light.otf, which can obtain from the URL:

http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/unix/7x/7.0.8/misc/FontPack708_chs_i386-linux.tar.gz
After you unpack the FontPack708_chs_i386-linux.tar.gz, in the
CHSKIT/CIDFont dir you will get the tOpenType font I mentioned above.
  The following is my ways:

  1. In the dir *$TEXMFHOME/fonts/* make a subdir named *opentype*, then
put the AdobeSongStd-Light.otf into the opentype dir;
  2. Use the command "kpsewhich cid-x.map" to decide which is the active
cid-x.map file used by dvipdmx, then Open the cid-x.map file, looking into
it, as for my cid-x.map files, I already have the enties in it as follows:
  **********************
[EMAIL PROTECTED]@ unicode simsun
  **********************
Then only change the above line into:

  **************************
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]@ unicode AdobeSongStd-Light
  **************************

Here, the *gbksong* is my *TFMNAMESTEM* when I use the subfonts.pe to
generated subfonts, that is, I have the corresponding *TFM* files named
like: gbksong01.tfm, gbksong02.tfm, ... , gbksong94.tfm which have been put
right
places into my TDS tree.
Furthmore, the *UGBK* is the stemname of the sfd file, the *unicode* stand
for the encoding scheme when I use the dvipdfmx to generate pdf files. I've
learned that the *unicode* should be UniGB-UCS2-H, but in that case, some
problems will happen, for example, some punctuations cann't be generated
correctly. So I change the *UniGB-UCS2-H* into *unicode*, BTW, it also can be
*Identity-H*, but perhaps the *unicode* is more compatible with the latest
versions of DVIPDFMX. So just use the *unicode* for all encoding schemes.
  3.Run the texhash.
4.OK! That's all, if you not use GBK encoding scheme, you can change it
correpondingly. Then latex and dvipdfmx you tex files, you will get the
opentype fonts into you pdf files, but you will have some warnings as
follows:
 ********************
 ** WARNING ** UCS-4 TrueType cmap table...
 ********************
Furthmore, I also find that, through this way, the font embeded into my
pdf files are identified as type 1 fonts (CID), I don,t know the reason.

Whether or no, the ultimate pdf files are right.

  Best,
  Hongsheng.
