I'm quite new to CJK world, and I'm facing a problem with indexes. I
attach the test case. What I've seen is that the makeindex tool

the first *byte* to produce the headings, which gives a wrong UFT8
encoding and a pdflatex compilation failure.

Try this

for more information on makeindex + CJK. If it doesnt' help please
contact the list again.

It doesn't help. In this thread the problem came from the fact printindex was not in a CJK environment. But even with this particular example it fails here with the doc.ist I use, and I still suspect the index headings are not built correctly. Calling makeindex with no .ist (i.e. with no headings) works fine.

Any idea?

Thanks,
