Dear Werner, I've a tex file encoded in utf-8 with bom (byte order mark), then I find that (pdf)LaTeX will not compile it correctly at all untill I remove the the bom away. In addition, some editors, e.g., emeditor and winedt, rely on the bom to recognise the utf-8 encoding used by the file correctly.
How can I make (pdf)LaTeX compile a utf-8 endoed file with bom? Any hints or solutions are highly appreciated.
