I am appalled at the carnage in the US today ... but equally, I'm appalled,
horrified and outraged that FOUR separate aircraft were perpetrated by these
monsters. ONE aircraft would have been one too many. How did this happen
in the United States?
The breakdown in security at certain airports in the USA this morning is
totally unacceptable. These terrorist monsters saw the weaknesses in US
domestic airline security (at certain airports) and exploited them. To use
your aircraft to terrorize your country is an outrage of unprecedented scale,
and reflects horribly on those responsible for security in this country. (I'm
a Brit. now resident in Texas ... my husband, family and myself travel
frequently.)
Having been evicted from the Middle East during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait,
and been aboard an Egypt Air flight that was surrounded by military tanks on
the tarmac during a security alert on the ground, it is hard to assimilate
the fact that the PENTAGON was hit today in the United States of America,
and hit by its own aircraft (albeit with a terrorist at the controls)... it
isn't meant to happen here!
I know my sense of outrage is shared globally ... my sympathies to all those
personally affected by this outrage. I can't begin to imagine the horror and
agony of losing a loved one in such a wasteful, senseless fashion.
Terri (Antiquehorsesource) ... it's people like your husband that make this
world a safer place for people like me. I personally, couldn't raise my sons
(or daughter)! up to do what he, and many others like him, are doing
tonight. Maybe it's because I have an 8 year old who wept at the scenes he
viewed on CNN this evening, and despite my attempts to explain what had
happened, just couldn't "get it." I am in awe of the self sacrifice and
bravery your husband, and others like him exhibit as a lifestyle ... not
just in crisis. Those that can, do .... as the saying goes.
Maybe, in times like this, we would do well to remember that we are all here
for a very short time, and sharing our knowledge and love for our dogs should
be done gladly, and without reservation or judgment for those who haven't
been in the breed for a requisite number of years. ... this might be the time
to come together and share what we know, rather than assume "newbies" are "in
it " for the wrong reasons. I remind myself frequently that EVERYONE who
breeds or shows Cavaliers, was once in my position .... we all had our
start somewhere.
Incidentally, Cavaliers are pretty much the dog next door in England ... my
own interest in them was put on hold for years while I played the part of
"trailing spouse" to my husband's career and travel. I grew up around the
breed, with several neighbours owning them as well as various relatives. I
am in the process of obtaining the best quality Cavaliers I can, and what I
lack in 'years," I hope to make up for in enthusiasm and a desire to "do
things" properly.
I lurk on these boards for the most part ... venturing out now and again with
the odd comment, but generally being very conscious of my "newbie" status (in
Cavaliers, not dogs per se!!!)
I hope I won't press the "send" button tonight, and regret being so vocal in
the morning!! This is a sad, sad, day for America, and like many others out
there tonight, I will find sleep hard to come by (which accounts for my
ramblings)!
