Well as a person that both shows and judges all be it in the UK - I see no
reason why just because you are campaigning a dog or bitch you can't also
judge. The two are in different compartments in my involvement in dogs.
I know you have a different system to that which we have here but I  think
that the AKC should be doing more to encourage breeders of Cavaliers (as a
relatively new breed in AKC) to put their toe into the water and start
judging. Allrounder judges have their place in judging if only to point out
were a breed may be improving or deteriorating as the case may be - but you
must have an equal mix of breed specialists also in order to maintain type
and have people who fully understand the breed standard and its nuances.

Just my opinion of course
