Before I had a dog microchiped I called the AKC. In some of their literature they said if they were called any questions about it would be answered. What I learned was the two main forms of microchipping do differ. Avid can migrate, but Home alone, fuses to the lining of the skin. Fortunately my vet did the Home alone, it was a fast and painless implantation. I only have one dog done, but I would not hesitate to have the others done in the future. Linda Berman
