As a pet owner and if you were a regular voting member of a parent club, how
would you use your voting power. Would you vote to select judges you know
little or nothing about for specialties at which you will not exhibit?
Why...since this would not effect you? Will you vote to keep show dogs from
being trimmed? Why, since this would not effect you? Would you vote for
officers? Why, since the policies of the club do not effect you? Or do you
think that you should be able to vote on all things pertaining to the breed
and the breeders and exhibitors simply because you own one or two, or even
more, cavaliers that will not be shown or bred. In my opinion, if a person
is not a participant in some aspect of the sport of dogs, exhibiting,
breeding, performance activities, he has no business helping to make
decisions regarding the breed to which those who do participate must adhere.
In other words if you don't have a heifer to brand, your iron should not be
in the fire.

Local clubs are the proper venue for those who choose not to participate in
performance or conformation activities.
