I am so heartened to read the responses to this question today. It is nice to hear from people who have experience with dogs and the good sense to know how to teach them proper behavior. A few weeks ago, the Hoflin list had a similar discussion, and the general consensus was that a growl from a baby was simply not to be tolerated. I felt that they showed almost no understanding of the nature of a sassy little baby or a bashful little baby, and no comprehension that puppies can be taught how to behave, and that they are, after all....just babies. No allowances could be made for a baby in a new situation. I feel good today to hear the responses from Cathy, Terrie and Jean. There is just no substitute for love and understanding when dealing with our dogs. Myra
