At first i thought you were talking about the mostly green, smallish type macaws. They look somewhat like large parakeets. You are talking about the huge brilliantly colored, did I mention huge?.... variety. Yes, I can see your concern. I wonder if the cage maybe could be fitted with some small hole wire netting making it impossible for the birds beak to fit through. I would surely think a Cavalier would be quite facinated with the bird. My Dixie perks up and barks when she hears a bird on television.
