<I've heard there's a new kind of "fake wood" laminate like Pergo but
doesn't require glue between the strips. I hear it's very good, better than
Pergo and the others, but I'd worry about puddles getting through to the
subfloor (both the mop and the puppy kind). Does anyone know about this? It
may be imported from Europe somewhere?

I just finished replacing all of the carpet in my house with Wilsonart
laminate. It is absolutely the best thing I've ever done! I did extensive
research before doing this--through the list, internet, Consumer Reports,
etc. etc. I also went to 8-10 different flooring companies in town, got
several estimates, as well as talked with the salesmen about the different
brands and types for my needs. I was debating between hardwood and
laminate.

I thought the kind that did not use glue would probably work better, because
it could be removed and replaced if necessary. Several different companies
told me that it was not easily replaced. You would need to remove a long
strip several planks wide in an entire room just to get to the one part you
wanted to replace. I ended up going with laminate over wood because of the
ease of cleaning with the dogs. The Wilsonart laminate is absolutely
beautiful and looked the most like wood to me. The cost is exactly the same
as hardwood, but in my situation I felt it would serve me best. I did not
want to replace floors ever again, so I'm hoping by choosing a high quality
laminate, I will not have to do so. In Consumer Reports ratings, Wilsonart
and Pergo Select were rated the highest.

As far as wiping their feet as they come in the house, this would not serve
the purpose but I don't know what would. I have a doggie door to the
outside with a mat outside the doggie door as well as outside the main door
to the back yard. I don't seem to get a lot of grass tracked in. This
floor is *very* easy to clean, although I am dusting the dust bunnies almost
daily! For a sun room, I think tile might be more appropriate, but this is
really beautiful.
