As I said I will wait until I see what is written on this event in the next
publication before forming my final opinion. I just can't resist a few
comments on some things posted so far though.

In an effort to not flirt with the 15 post limit and save some delete key
blisters I have put several comments on this thread into one post. Hopefully
I will get the authors right.

<<I'm speaking of crime and punishment...I'll mention the "dirty dozen"
again...I'm not fond of all of them, I outright dislike one or two of them,
have no respect for a few of them and love two of them.
None of them deserved the punishment they received...are we a kinder and
gentler club or do we select a few for punishment and let the rest
go....food for thought.>>

My top concerns are as follows.
A) A full explanation (forthcoming I have been told)
B) Corrective literature to the same audiance to assure everyone understands
what the DDAL is all about. ( I think it was mentioned this has or will
happen)
C) Prevent something like this from happening again if possible. (#1 Concern)

These outcomes are far more important to me then stringing up the culprit an
action from which I fail to see a gain for the breed especially if the person
in question has served the club well for many years. Crucifixtion for one
act? All else forgotton? Is that fair?

Don't get me wrong if anyone can be a vindictive head hunter its me <G>
I just am not sure what there is to gain in this instance from it.

I do, however, understand the cry for equal justice since the expulsion of
12 was for what many consider a far less offensive action. And did they not
and do they not in many cases have known records of doing many positive
things for the breed before and since? Consistency is the question at hand I
think.

Maybe if we want to start setting a positive precedent this would be a fine
opportunity to retract the suspensions of "the dirty dozen" as part of an
overall review and overhaul of disciplinary actions of the club. By doing so
it would then be consistent to::

Get a full explanation of the event
Assure controls are in place to prevent an event like this from occuring again

Yet it will
Remove the pressure of now applying fines and expulsion for this event (an
action I am not sure will reap anything positive for the breed)
It will provide an opportunity to restore added faith in those running the
club.

Something good can yet come from the event. In fact something good already
has if procedures are changed to help assure something like this does not
happen again (if possible).

I think the backlash from the general club membership and reputation
(deserved or not) this event will forever attach to the name of the
responsible party will serve as enough punishment. Lets close the loophole
and prevent future damage.

such a horrible act, then you need to file a ethics complaint. Remember to

then it is best to remain silent.>>

>From what I heard this happened and enough people know about it to, at least
in my mind assure it most likely did. In fact the accused resigned the club
.... for what other reason at that particular time I wonder? Too
coincidental. Why bring it up here? Because it was a horrific act if it
occurred as described and as I said before horrific acts like that NEED to be
publicized. Remember a newbie not knowing better may one day take guidance
from the executor of that horrific act. Thats a scary thought to me! Shout
it from the hills I say (If you know it to be true)

Why else bring it up here? I think Cathy was trying to raise the question of
balanced justice just as Jo Ann was by bringing up the "dirty dozen".
Is justice balanced in the club? Has it been? More importantly CAN IT BE?
 Maybe.
These types of events can serve to help improve the club by improving the
way it is run. And what is the point of filing an ethics complaint if the
party has resigned from the club? The barn doors are open... the horse is
long gone.... maybe not ethical but no dummy. And will it benefit others
..... I think sharing truths good and bad can do nothing but benefit others.

I agree and would like to think this will be a positive outcome of the event.

Sure doesn't seem so to me either .... but I'll wait until we hear the full
story before making up my mind for sure.
