<Kelly,
Since your contract guarantees the health of your puppies for 48 hours, can
I assume that you don't stand behind the health of your pups if they develop
MVD, luxating patellae, hip dysplasia, epilepsy or genetically linked eye
diseases in the first couple of years?

Barb,

I believe her contract says that she guarantees for 48 hours against
*infectious* diseases such as parvo, coronavirus and distemper. It also
says that she guarantees for a year against congenital defects. As I do not
know Kelly, I am not saying anything for or against this contract--just that
I understood genetic defects were covered for one year.

I, for one, would never expect some of the lifetime guarantees that many of
the breeders on this board say they give. I don't believe the breeder
should be expected to provide replacement puppies and/or refunds 8-9 years
later if the dog develops a congenital defect. I think they are wonderful
for doing so, and am constantly amazed when I hear these stories. I
certainly do not think it should be expected though. Again, except for the
48 hour part, I am speaking in general terms, not about this breeder in
particular.
