To add to Myra's explanation..........a good many of the pet membership bought their dogs from anti-AKC breeders that filled their heads with the idea that AKC breeders have no ethics or testing policies.
I was one of those people, way back when, ......that believed this also......I have since come to understand the issues AND reality that unethical breeders are in both registries. some compromise needs to be made by the CKCSC about breeding to AKC dogs. I don't want to see the club dissolve, because I enjoy the show venue and opportunity to exhibit to experienced breeder/judges. Opportunities such as this are far and few between in the AKC ring. I've not gotten to the point of "packing it in" with the CKCSC yet........but you never know!
