Hello All, This CKCS USA vs AKC is a dead end for those dogs registered with the first. I know from experience. I have had aussies for a long time and the ASCA vs AKC thing happened there too. In Canada, the CKC is mandated by the government to oversee the registration of pure bred dogs in Canada. It is a federal offence to sell a dog purported to be purebred and not registered with CKC. Few are ever charged mind, the RCMP have bigger fish to fry. Still I looked into purchasing a CKCS USA only registered cavalier and I would not be able to register this puppy CKC. If I imported him and used him, I would not be able to register the offspring with any registry. I would be technicaly breeding mixed breed dogs... So people get it straight. If there are those who have strict rules regarding breeding and health checks etc. well make your own group, still register with AKC but advertise your dogs as tried tested and true (or has that been used already) Many decades ago I was involved with GSD and followed the breeder protocols as set out by the German club. There are still a few in Canada, working strictly in performance and police work. The breed took a different direction.in the conformation ring. The gene pool in the breed, cavaliers, is limited enough why restrict it even more. That is so self defeating. Leah Swatko Ministik Reg. [EMAIL PROTECTED]
