Hi ,         I applied patch e17-incr.tar.bz2
    available at     http://sf.gds.tuwien.ac.at/c/ck/ckrm/
    to Suse 2.6.10 kernel. Patch applied
        successfully.Then i built the kernel
        I inserted modules rcfs, rbce ,
        ckrm_numtasks , ckrm_listenaq.
        I mounted rcfs filesystem on /rcfs.
        subdirectories in this directories
        shown were ce , taskclass , socketclass.
                I created directory c1 in /rcfs/taskclass/
        when i did         echo     "res=cpu,guarantee=30">
/rcfs/taskclass/c1/shares
        output of cat /rcfs/taskclass/c1/shares
        does not change. It remains as
    res=numtasks,guarantee=-2,limit=-2,
    total_guarantee=100,max_limit=100

        What i want to do it group some tasks so that
    they are allocated some fixed percentage of
        cpu time

        Please let me know if i am missing some
        thing.

To get control over cpu time, you need to apply the cpu controller
patch on top of the CKRM base package. The cpu controller patch for e17
is available at
    http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=85838

Follow the instructions in Documentation/ckrm/cpusched of the resulting
source tree and it should work for you.
Please note there are a couple of bugs discovered by Peter Williams that
will get fixed in the next update.
