What's needed is an installation script which installs a completely
independent copy in one of two locations, so you can double-buffer
the installs.

This has to be easy and not involve a lot of makefile or config file
editing; eg a simple "make alpha" or "make beta".  On the next release
you pick whichever one you did not pick the last time, and finally
after you have tested the new release to your hearts content, when
you 'make installalpha' it links the installed binary to the appropriate
release, eg clamscan-alpha or clamscan-beta...
