Well, database/Makefile.am in SVN/snapshots and 0.91rc1 is out of date (and that's actually the bug). The one we used in 0.90.x also checks for existence of .inc dirs to avoid the situation you described. The installation procedure is not used at all for SVN and snapshots because they come with the empty database files. -- oo .....
