As a reply, I'm sorry to be an end user and not a developper nor found your site easy to read nor to find things for commun user.
From this new experience, clamav seems to be for restricted high skills users. According your EOL annoncement, It is not writtent that the ways to get virus definition updated files is going to be changed. Getting virus updates has nothing to do with the code but with network process and access restriction and this is outside of published EOL (which concerns the product itself only, excluding any network changes or networks user access).
