I implemented a TexturePaintContext using only Java code. This enables
the use of textures in AbstractGraphics2D based Java2D stack. The Cairo
implementation is not affected by this, it uses the TexturePaint in a
different way.

I'm thinking that a hook for providing alternative implementations for
the PaintContexts and CompositeContext could be useful. For example,
someone might accelerate compositing and painting (by far the most
performance-eating pieces of the pipeline) by implementing these parts
on top of OpenGL or Xrender or some other backend. Naturally, the
shuffling with large arrays of data is done faster in the memory of a
GPU...

Maybe we can do this by having a ClasspathGraphicsEnvironment class that
has methods like createTexturePaintContext(...) etc, and a
GraphicsEnvironment impl could subclass this and provide its
implementations via these methods. Any other ideas? OTOH, as long as we
don't have alternative impls of that stuff, this isn't of any use
(except maybe for external implementors).
