I still don't fully understand dependency files. Is there something
other than the 'make' info files to read which explain it better?

Yeah, I think I'm going to spend some time tonight trying to figure
out why Japhar isn't happy with its own class files on one machine and
doesn't work at all on another.
Maybe I just need to dump the cruft on my 5.0 box and upgrade to 5.2
