It is an excellent and important part of Java and we should include it ASAP.
Personally, I'm a lot more familiar with Collections and the java.util
package, so I'm focussing the small amount of time that I have there where I
will be the most effective.

You're right. I've never actually used weak references, so I thought that
I'd save that one for last. ;)
