To focus more on working towards a 1.0 I want to start to make monthly releases. 0.13 start of December, 0.14 start of January and 0.15 start of February. The 0.13 release will be the cut-off date for new packages/classes (we will finally include GNU JAXP by then), 0.14 is
Just to give those of us on the "outside" a better picture, what are the roadblocks to including JAXP that cause it to be scheduled so far away? My personal interest, beyond the obvious (seeing Free Java be as good as it can be), is in seeing the japitools results be an accurate reflection of what the actual state of Free Java is.
Currently libgcj's japi file includes Apache's JAXP implementation and JacORB's CORBA packages. Kaffe provides a file that includes JAXP from somewhere (I don't know where), JacORB and Tritonus for sound. Classpath doesn't provide any of these APIs but does seem to do somewhat better as far as the "greenness" of the APIs it does support. Thus none of the japi results available right now give a true picture of how close we really are. (Kaffe+JacORB is closest and amazingly indicates 80% of 1.4!)
I'd like for Classpath 1.0 to include as much of the core API as is available in Free implementations: Classpath, IMHO, should be a "one stop shop" for an implementation of the Java Platform APIs. So in my opinion (for what little it's worth) getting JAXP integrated and seeing if there's any way to integrate Tritonus and some Free CORBA implementation are all highly desirable goals for 1.0.
