Found it, and it's already fixed in Classpath. It's this: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.java.classpath.patches/12149 Despite the fact that this patch was written in mid-2007 it is still not in the gcc 4.3 branch. Unfortunately, gcc 4.3.3 was released last Sunday. :-( It looks like the last Classpath import for gcc 4.3 was this: 2007-08-04 Matthias Klose <d...@ubuntu.com> Import GNU Classpath (libgcj-import-20070727). which means that this change of 2007-08-23 missed gcc 4.3, even though 4.3 wasn't released until 2008-03-05. Thus, every gcj ever released has this evil deadlock, even that in Fedora 10. Andrew.
