We've had a few isolated cases of XP SP3 RC as well. I opened a TAC case but
their reply was they don't do 'unofficial' releases. My account manager is
working with an engineer to see if they can come up with a better answer. In
the mean time, we've had to exempt the handful of cases, because I don't want
the headache of manually maintaining the Windows Updates ruleset.

We don't support Vista yet as a campus, so we haven't seen the SP for it in the
wild yet.

Subject: XP SP3 and Vista SP1

Just wondered how others are dealing with the new Service Packs for XP and
Vista? In the last few days we've had a few XP users showing up with RC1/2
installed, and one fellow claims to have Vista SP1 RTM installed. Both are
failing the Cisco supplied checks (CCA 4.1.2).

XP is failing these checks (presumably no SP3 check yet):

Failed Checks:
pc_Windows-XP-SP2, Registry Check
[\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\CSDVersion
contains Service Pack 2]

pc_Windows-XP-SP1, Registry Check
[\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\CSDVersion
contains Service Pack 1]
