We've seen the string error pop up from time to time on Vista machines,
this is what we've been doing to correct it:
1st - I uninstall CCA Agent 4.1.6
2nd - I install an older CCA Agent version 4.1.3
3rd - I change the folder options on the computer to view hidden files
and folders.
4th - I navigate to C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp
5th - I delete all files in the temp directory and I leave the temp
directory open.
6th- I right click on the 4.1.3 msi file and choose copy.
7th - I login to the 4.1.3 agent and it requires me to update to 4.1.6.
I let it do this. While it is in process it will create a temporary
directory in the temp directory mentioned above similar to
{DBDJHJJRJRJgh878367643} but it will be different each time. One you
see that folder in the temp directory open it quickly and paste the msi
file there. The update will not work successfully if you don' do this.
8th - Once 4.1.3 has been updated to 4.1.6, do not log in, but exit CCA
from the lower right toolbar.
9th - Open up Add/Remove programs from control panel and choose CCA
Agent , but be sure to choose only "Repair".
10th - Once the repair is done, CCA agent will pop up and will work
normally with no string error.

Subject: agent error
I'm getting a very obscure agent error. The scenario is a VPN using
Single Sign-on with version 4.1.6. The agent pops up with SSO but
immediately shows this error message. "Network Error" "Detail: String
Error". That's it. It tells me nothing else. Has anyone seen this?
