I had this experience on a Dell 1950. In older versions, prior to 4.1.2
when the install CD reached the boot option selection it was necessary
to boot to "DL140". I did this with 4.1.8 and got the kernel panic.
Restarted the installation and the left the boot option blank and the
install proceeded OK.
Could just be a coincidence, but it worked.

I just upgraded our CCA manager to 4.1.8 from 4.1.2 which should have
worked. When the server rebooted itself all i get now is a kernel panic
error.
Anyone run into this and know the fix? Not sure i have days to wait for
cisco on this one.
