Hi,

We've upgraded to NAC 4.7(0) over a week ago. Ever since we've had nothing
but trouble. We've downgraded to the version we were running before the
upgrade (4.1.6). I'm in the middle of opening a TAC case but I've stumbled
upon an issue with missing contract numbers.

What we've seen after we upgraded is that our CAS'es after a couple hours
(5 - 9) weren't able to use RADIUS accounting information to authenticate
users. After that they stopped responding to HTTP(s) requests and stopped
processing user traffic. Only a reboot could fix this. We've experienced
this in both standalone and HA mode. In HA mode the secondary CAS doesn't
take over because heartbeat is still working.

This is what we've seen so far on our campus. Now I'm waiting for the
ability to log a TAC case.

I'm willing to bet that you've found a documentation error.

The release notes have said do the CAM first since the beginning of time.
They probably forgot to "fix" all the references when they changed the
upgrade order.

Has anyone gone ahead with this upgrade? We have our Fall Break next week
so I’m contemplating doing this then and then hoping that I can install
the upgrade for Windows 7 support in November. However, has anyone seen
this in Cisco’s documentation? It’s a little confusing…

Upgrade Clean Access Servers Before Clean Access Manager
Starting with Cisco NAC Appliance release 4.1(6), the Clean Access Manager
and Clean Access
Server require encrypted communication. Therefore, you must upgrade CASs
before the CAM that
manages them to ensure the CASs have the same (upgraded) release when the
CAM comes back
online and attempts to reconnect to the managed CASs.

Only to later state in the Standalone upgrade instructions:

The steps to upgrade standalone 4.0(x)/4.1(x)/4.5(x)/4.6(1) systems are as
follows:
1. Create CAM DB Backup Snapshot, page 69
2. Download the Install/Upgrade File, page 69
3. Upgrade Your CAM, page 70
4. Upgrade Your CAS, page 71
