Howard,

We have had one user come in and two call about not being allowed on due to failing the Windows Update requirements. This is a result of the OS version-specific hotfixes rule checks for IE8 or IE7 to be installed.

In order to allow it, we added a custom check to our hotfixes rule. We do not use Cisco's canned rules, but rather make copies of them and then modify slightly. The check is just a copy of the pc_IE8_0 check with a changed Value Data number from 8.0 to 9.0. Then in the rule you will need to add it to the IE section of hotfixes to pass the requirement if it exists.

An example of the rule section specific to IE (Win7 Hotfixes Rule):

    &((pc_IE8_0&pc_W7_KB982381_MS10-035_IE8)|isu_IE9_0)

With the addition of our isu_IE9_0 check we state that they need IE8 with an update or just IE9.

Hope this helps and if you have any questions just ask.

Dan

Anyone dealing with this, wrote a rule, have it working, willing to share?

Thanks, Howard
